What is EARFCN?

EARFCN (E-UTRA Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number) is a unique number assigned to each LTE carrier frequency. Instead of using raw frequency values, LTE networks identify channels using EARFCN numbers.

EARFCN is the channel number that represents a specific LTE frequency.

Downlink Frequency

FDL = FDL_low + 0.1 × (NDL − NOffs-DL)

Uplink Frequency

FUL = FUL_low + 0.1 × (NUL − NOffs-UL)

  • NDL = Downlink EARFCN
  • NUL = Uplink EARFCN
  • Frequency unit = MHz
  • Channel spacing = 100 kHz
